Stacking Credits

Credit Stacking: An Australian First

Cassowary Credits projects can be stacked with Australian Carbon Credit Unit (ACCU) projects, unlocking the recognition and reward of multiple environmental outcomes from the same piece of land. This approach allows landholders to diversify income while delivering broader environmental benefits.

This is the first time in Australia that stacking across credit markets has been formally enabled and supported by program design.

The approach has been formally endorsed by the Clean Energy Regulator, recognising that projects can meet the requirements of both schemes without compromising integrity or double-counting outcomes.

A Credit Stacking Guide can be found below to help proponents understand how stacking works in practice, what’s permitted under the relevant schemes, and how to navigate project planning and credit generation across markets.

The application form to stack a Cassowary Credit project with an ACCU project can be found on the Cassowary Credits Resources and Templates page.

Cassowary Credits Stacking Guide

The Cassowary Credits Stacking Guide provides the information required on how an ACCU project can be stacked with a Cassowary Credits project to measure and calculate both the environmental benefit and carbon benefit, ensuring all requirements of both schemes are met and ensuring additionality, so the outcomes are not double counting.

The guide is available to view online or to download and print for your convenience.
