Tully Nutrient Run-off Reduction Project #1

The Tully Nutrient Run-off Reduction Project #1 is located on a sugarcane farming enterprise within the Tully River Catchment, which drains to the Great Barrier Reef. This Reef Credit Project has been developed in a partnership between GreenCollar and the land manager. Efficient nitrogen fertiliser application – Maintenance of green cane trash blanket including as fallow cover on final ratoon. – All machines and implements including harvesters and haul outs will operate on the same wheel spacings and under GPS guidance – Maintain of row widths at 1.8-2.0m – Intention to plant all sugarcane fallow land to legumes or alternate crops. – Zonal tillage only with no more than 60% of the area cultivated for cane.
