Proponents and Project Developers

Clear technical guardrails take projects from an approved Methodology through registration, verification and Credit issuance.

Why ENVOMARK

Give good projects credibility

ENVOMARK provides a recognised framework for developing high-integrity environmental projects. Clear Standards, approved Methodologies and independent verification help proponents demonstrate that the outcomes their projects deliver are measurable, additional and credible.

How it works for you

From project to verified Credit

Project Proponents are responsible for developing and managing projects in accordance with the relevant ENVOMARK Standard and Methodology. Eco-Markets provides the framework and market infrastructure for project registration, monitoring, independent verification and ultimately the issuance of Credits for verified outcomes.

    Questions

Asked by Proponents and Project Developers

Yes. A single parcel can run two methodologies under two standards and issue two credit types. Each lineage is tracked separately, so the provenance of each credit stays intact.

Start by reviewing the approved Methodologies and identifying the one that suits your land. Register yourself as a proponent on the registry. Once you are approved as a proponent, you can submit your project for approval by the Eco-Markets Secretariat. Once your project is approved, you are free to begin work on the ground, improve environmental outcomes and earn Credits. You can contact us at any point in that process at info@eco-markets.org.au.

The mark is applied only to Standards, Methodologies, Projects and Credits that meet a minimum bar for integrity, transparency and rigour. It is the culmination of Eco-Markets’ governance, expertise and consultation. Where the mark appears, buyers can be confident the outcome has been measured, quantified, verified and already achieved. It is a consistent signal of integrity, so buyers can purchase repeatedly without taking on integrity or greenwashing risk.

If your Reef Credit project has already been validated and registered, it continues to operate under the Methodology version that applied when the project was registered. A revision to an approved Methodology does not automatically require existing projects to transition to the new version during their current crediting period.

Where a proponent chooses to transition, all eligibility requirements under the relevant Method and Standard must be met, an application for validation by the Secretariat is required, and the registry must be updated accordingly.

Where an existing project renews its crediting period, it must adopt the most recent version of the applicable Methodology, reassess its baseline scenario and demonstrate compliance with the latest requirements.

New projects must use the most recently approved version. Proponents may elect to use the previous version if they submit their project for validation within 90 days of the updated Methodology being approved. Refer to sections 4.9 and 3.2.2 of the Reef Credit Standard.
